Heather Evans

When asked about her art, Heather says, “I love collecting anything porcelain. I mostly have animals, owls, skunks, rabbits, dogs and cats (of course) but my crown jewel is my Burt Reynolds porcelain head, still unpainted, I'm too nervous. I do a lot of crafts; I don't own a single item of jewelry that I didn't make myself. Mostly bead work, but I've been known to dabble a little in macaroni. I have 4 cats: Wiggles, Lou-Lou, Greg and Liza Minnelli. thought Liza was a girl when I got her but she got Lou-Lou pregnant, so now I have six half tabby half calico kittens and a boy cat that only answers to Liza. I am an IOWA (Inanimate Object Wrestling Association) county champion three years straight. My first year I completely disemboweled a stapler, year two was a close one when a pair of mittens almost suffocated me, and this past years gave me seven little black dot tattoos when a Bic pen put up quite a fight.”

Bead for Life Jewelry

The beaders cut the beads from colorful magazine pages, old calendars, pamphlets, and cereal boxes. Each bead is carefully rolled from a triangular piece of paper and glued. Once finished, the beads are lightly varnished. Jewelry is assembled by selecting beads that compliment each other and adding colorful glass beads. Necklaces are fastened by screw clasps. Each bead is totally unique, as is each piece of jewelry.
